PBL I - ENDOCRINOLOGY

Fatema, a 40 years old female complaining of polydipsia and polyurea. She had lost about 10kg in weight in the last 3 months. Her appetite was very good. She also complained of easy fatigability, weakness and dizziness. Her vision has recently become blurred.

On examination, she weighed 95kg and her height was 160cm. She was not dehydrated nor had peripheral edema. Blood pressure was 120/80 mmHg, plse 78/min and heart sounds were normal. Apart from lost of sensation of both feet and hands, there was no abnormalities in the central nervous system, respiratory and gastrointestinal system.

Laboratory investigations showed blood sugar level of 560mol/dL.
